Four goals from Canadian Ryan Ellis, alongside hat-tricks from Nicky Lewis and Justin Noble, braces from Andy Smith and Callum Best and a lone Tim Smith effort, saw the Invicta Dynamos hammer the Milton Keynes Thunder 15-3 in Gillingham on Sunday evening.

Buoyed by the 13-5 thumping of the Slough ENL Jets the night before, the Dynamos started quickly on home ice and were ahead inside 20 seconds as Nicky Lewis converted a Ryan Ellis pass. The link-up between the pair would provide two more goals before the break with Canadian Ellis twice more teeing up Lewis allowing the 24 year old to complete a first period hat-trick.

The Thunder kept themselves within toughing distance however, as Jamie Randall made use of a Corey Watkins penalty to cut the deficit to 3-1 ahead of the buzzer. In the second period the Dynamos were then completely dominant and they added six more to their tally to lead 9-1 with forty minutes played.

Callum Best set them on their way with the team’s fourth before two in four minutes from Ryan Ellis had them five in front. Fellow countryman Justin Noble then added his name to the gamesheet for 7-1, Ellis buried his third of the night to complete his hat-trick and captain Andy Smith added the ninth in the final minute of the frame.

The last period would then follow a similar pattern as the hosts were allowed to notch another four before the Thunder could muster a response. Justin Noble grabbed a quick double following the puck drop to take the Dynamos into double figures at 11-1 before Andy Smith and Callum Best also put the puck over the line to stretch that edge to 13-1. Harrison Goode’s consolation for Milton Keynes would briefly stem the flow, but his effort beyond replacement shot stopper Lee Freeman was quickly cancelled out by Ryan Ellis – the Canadian grabbing his fourth in a fine display.

The younger of the visitor’s Goode brothers – Connor – then tallied the Thunder’s third to make it 14-3 but the visitors were not even afforded the last say on the night as blue liner Tim Smith drove in from distance to complete a 15-3 victory for the Dynamos.

So it was a second emphatic in of the weekend for the team who finished the doubled header with four more points and 28 goals to their name. Man of the match awards on the night went to hat-trick hero Nicky Lewis of the hosts, though Ryan Ellis also deserves recognition for another fine display, whilst battling youngster Nidal Phillips secured the honours for the visitors.

From here the Dynamos now prepare for another trip to Slough with the fixtures calendar seeing them hit the road to face the ENL Jets for the second time in a week. Faceoff at the Hangar on Saturday is at 7.30pm.
